In Kestrels we have lots of fun further developing our learning by challenging our existing ideas and building our questioning skills to enhance our understanding.
The children in Kestrels are in their penultimate year of primary school and we therefore build on prior knowledge across the curriculum from EYFS, KS1 and lower KS2.
We experience our learning in lots of different ways, including using practical resources such a Base 10, Counters and Place Value in maths. We have lots of fun in our wider curriculum sessions, such as art, music and PE to name a few.
We have PE sessions using Real PE alongside progressing our skills by applying them in sports such as archery, tennis and badminton. During the year we will also have some Forest School sessions where we talk, think about and question the natural world around us, problem solve and work as a team.
We follow the National Curriculum for Reading, Writing, Maths as well as the Wider Curriculum. In English we continue to learn texts and internalise language to help us craft writing for purpose and delve into extracts and novels as part of our reading sessions. In maths we strive to deepen our understanding of mathematical concepts and apply them in a more abstract way.
We always share lots of our work and things we get up to with our parents at home on our class dojo page.
We hope you find the information below useful. If you have any questions please do contact us.
